At Heart Hospital, our priority is to ensure that every patient receives the best and safest possible care for the best chance of a full recovery. Achieving this depends on creating a calm, healing environment where patients receive the right care at the right time and are protected from germs and infections.
As a visitor, you, your family, and friends play an important role in helping us maintain this environment. Your cooperation supports our efforts to provide the best possible care for all patients.
We sincerely appreciate your support and partnership in making Heart Hospital a place of healing, safety, and respect.
Infection control
We request patients and visitors to help us prevent the spread of germs and infection. The safety of our patients, visitors, and staff is our top priority. We kindly ask for your cooperation in following these important guidelines:
- Always use hand sanitizer before entering and upon leaving a patient’s room. When requested, please wash your hands thoroughly with liquid soap.
- Do not visit if you are experiencing a fever, cold, sore throat, or any other symptoms of an infectious illness.
- If you have recently been unwell, please wait until you are completely symptom-free for at least 48 hours before visiting. Wearing a mask is strongly recommended.
- If you have respiratory symptoms and must visit a patient, please wear a mask before entering the patient’s room.
- Follow all posted precautionary signs and check in at the Nursing Station before entering any patient room.
- Practice proper cough etiquette: Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or cough into your upper sleeve. Dispose of tissues properly and sanitize your hands afterward.
- Get vaccinated against influenza every year to protect yourself and others from the flu.
Bringing Children to Visit
At Heart Hospital, the safety and wellbeing of our patients, visitors, and staff remain our top priority. While we understand the importance of family presence during hospitalization, we kindly advise against bringing young children to the hospital unless absolutely necessary. If children must accompany you during a hospital visit, we kindly ask that you adhere to the following guidelines, which are in place to safeguard the health and wellbeing of our patients:
- Children must be supervised by an adult at all times and should never be left alone with the patient.
- Children who visit must be up-to-date with their routine vaccinations and immunizations.
- Children who are unwell or have had symptoms of fever, cold, influenza, chickenpox, measles, or mumps within the past seven days must not visit the hospital.
- Children should remain in the room of the patient they are visiting and avoid walking through common areas, to minimize disruption to other patients and reduce the risk of infection.
Number of Visitors
Rest is essential for recovery. To support your loved one’s healing process, we kindly ask that visits are kept considerate and not overwhelming.
- Please allow the patient to guide the duration of your visit. If they indicate they are tired, kindly leave the room.
- To maintain a calm and healing environment, we request that no more than two visitors be present in the patient’s room at any given time.
- Coordinate with family and friends to stagger visits and avoid overcrowding.
- Keep noise levels low and remain respectful of other patients by being quiet in both the room and surrounding corridors.
Visitation Hours
At Heart Hospital, we recognize the vital role that family and loved ones play in a patient’s early recovery and healing. We do not impose fixed visiting hours, as patients are encouraged to determine who may visit them and when, based on their comfort and needs.
Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Visitation
Visits in the ICU are available 24/7. However, access may be adjusted by the clinical team depending on the patient’s condition and ongoing care requirements.
We encourage families to coordinate with the attending doctor or senior nurse to ensure visits are safe and appropriate. To support patient rest and care, a maximum of two visitors per patient is allowed at any one time in the ICU.
Thank you for helping us maintain a safe and healing environment for all our patients.
